Celebrity Beauty Icons Who Inspire Me

When I’m preparing for an advertising or a fashion/beauty shoot I’m often asked where my inspiration comes from.

The truth is, many things inspire me on a daily basis.  From art to nature and everything in-between.  I am a creative soul and find inspirational beauty in many things.

One of the most challenging parts of this business is understanding your client’s vision and then matching that vision with a look that will meet and then exceed their expectations.  It takes research and planning but it also takes creative inspiration.  Whether it’s a client trying to sell a piece of high end jewellery or a fashion designer wanting to capture the right “look” for their new clothing line,  my ultimate goal is to make their vision come to life.

Anyone who is a creative soul can understand how inspiration comes and goes in waves.  I find lots of different ways to keep myself inspired including saving things/items that make me think ‘outside the box’ or something I just find beautiful or interesting.  You might think this is funny but I save pieces of clothing that inspire me, favourite lip shades that give me ideas for colour combinations, pieces of art that are charming and pictures of stunning people/celebrities with unique bone structure and distinctive makeup styles .  I have folders on my desk top that include beauty images that inspire me every day.  Even a simple flower can give me inspiration when the mood hits!

When I need beauty inspiration I look through my celebrity beauty icons folder.  From Vivian Leigh who was born in 1909 to Lupita Nyong’o who was born in 1983 these are the beauties that inspire my work and will continue to inspire my work for the next decade.
