How To Build a Rewarding Mobile Makeup Artist Business (Blog Series)
Every year thousands of makeup artists from all over the world enter into the freelance makeup artistry industry with hopes and dreams of making it big.
The fact is that most newly graduated makeup artists will give up their freelance dream within the first year. Others will take on retail beauty jobs to help pay the bills. The few that are left run successful businesses that they have built themselves from the ground up. The ride to success is never easy but if your dream is to own a freelance mobile makeup business, then the struggles will be worth it.
I’ve made my business dream come true! For over a decade I’ve been a freelance makeup artist who runs a very successful and rewarding mobile makeup business.
I regularly train and consult new and established makeup artists who without question always ask me the same question.
“How can I make my mobile makeup business a success?”
If you’ve put yourself through a reputable makeup program and are holding a shiny new diploma or certificate in your hands that states you are a ‘certificated makeup artist’ you’re probably wondering what comes next. Where most makeup schools fall short is they simply do not teach practical business skills to their students.

Makeup schools will take your money and hand you a diploma or certificate but they will never teach you long term business success.
The simple truth is being a certified makeup artist alone won’t pay your bills. Reality is that you need to understand how to make real cash by running your own freelance business. And the sooner you start earning cold hard cash the easier it will be for you to grow your business in a way that supports yourself and your family.
Dream big but get focused.
Dreaming is great but having a clear focus on how you intend to run your business is absolutely necessary. First things first…you must begin to change the way you think. Stop thinking of yourself as merely a makeup artist and start seeing yourself as a highly driven motivated business owner.
When I first put my own business plan together, I realized that I had to get my business momentum built quickly in order to be competitive in an already saturated market. And that’s just what I did!
