Trendy Prom Makeup Ideas: How To Get The Rainbow Eye Shadow Look Using 8 Products
This particular rainbow eye shadow look was a look I created while I was still living in England.
This was actually my last booking in London before heading home to Toronto for good. Once I had finished this rainbow eye look on our gorgeous model Stacy, our photographer, the very talented Matthew Pearly came up and took a closer look and said enthusiastically “That’s really cool!”
Yeah, I thought so too!
The rainbow eye shadow look is back on trend in 2017
I can’t think of a better prom makeup look for trendy teens wanting to make a fashionable statement. Whether it’s a rainbow eye based on delicate subdued pastels or a full on bold dramatic rainbow eye using metallics, this on trend look is a winner.
When developing this look I really wanted the eyes to be the main focus. I choose to use vibrant greens, blues and purples on Stacy’s eyes. I chose these colours because they worked so well with Stacy’s skin colouring but you could use any colour combination that suits you.
Keep in mind that green is the pantone colour of the year for 2017 so if you happen to love the colour green, it would be perfect ‘on trend’ colour to use for this year’s prom.
The key to making a rainbow eye is to use various eye shadow textures (frosts, sheens and mattes) and then blending the edges of each shadow to create an almost smokey effect. Where one colour runs seamlessly into the next with no harsh edges.
